Best Freediving Areas
Rasdhoo Atoll
Rasdhoo is home to some of the clearest water and dramatic drop-offs in the Maldives. Just off the island, you’ll find reef walls, coral gardens, and deep channels that are perfect for line diving and exploration. Expect to see reef sharks, turtles, eagle rays, and large schools of fish — all in just a few meters of water.
- Ideal spots: Madivaru Reef, Rasdhoo Channel, House reef wall dives
- Depths for all levels — from shallow practice to 30m+ drop-offs
- Calm morning conditions and minimal boat traffic
- Easily accessible from Fins Dive & Leisure Hotel – Rasdhoo
Thulusdhoo (North Malé Atoll)
While better known for its surfing, Thulusdhoo also offers great freediving spots, especially on the inner reef and lagoon sides. Here you’ll find seagrass beds, coral gardens, and frequent encounters with turtles and stingrays — perfect for relaxed fun dives, photography, and beginners.
- Shallow, beginner-friendly lagoon areas
- Snorkel-access spots with reef and marine life
- Freediving/snorkeling combos ideal for short trips
- Combine with a surf trip for the ultimate balance
